Summer Strawberries

Ahhhhh.... the taste of the seasons first fresh picked strawberries! It's a flavour that's hard to describe, other than to say it tastes of the promise of warm summer days to come. This week we packed up some snack and headed out to the strawberry field for an adventure. It was funny to watch the kids with there different picking techniques;
Evelyn basically picked everything...... one for her basket, ten for her tummy

Nathan on the other hand decided that today.... he no longer liked strawberries?

(the aftermath of a strawberry free for all)

Amelia very quickly filled her basket, but then sat and ate them all only to have to fill be basket back up!

And Indirah...... she was the most serious picker of the group. She was the last to fill her basket because she closely inspected each and every berry before either eating it or putting it in her basket.

Phoenix was a man on a mission... to pick ONLY the "beauties"

And Chloe.... as a berry supervisor so I can take photos and pick a bucket full of berries ROCKED! Thank you for still wanting to come on adventures with us. We love you!

June always feels like such a crazy busy month, with the ending of the school year, wrap up parties for various activities, hockey play offs etc... I love cheese (Chloe made me write that) We also get to celebrate three birthdays this month!

Amelia turned 4

followed by Layla who turned 5

and lastly Indirah who also turned 4!

Now that's a lot of pink sparkled cupcakes!

Play Time

I was recently asked "what did you do today?" and found that my mind went fuzzy from the whirlwind of activity that occupied our day, but the only think that I could pin point was "nothing really". But sitting back today to watch the kids play I realized that even though we didn't leave the yard we still "did stuff". We worked at sharing, waiting our turn, counting, using our imagination, empathy for other people, creative problem solving,acknowledging other peoples feelings, pride in our accomplishments, and so much more. We probably didn't master any of these skills today..... but then again, tomorrow is a new day where we will have the opportunity to try all over again!
