Summer: week 2

Week 2 of summer break was a little weird as it had the Canada day holiday part way through it. Monday was a bit of a blur for me as i was still a bit fuzzy from having the flu Saturday night. Tuesday was the holiday, so really it felt like a 3 day week! My favorite day this week was definitely our kite day. The kids spent a long time at the art table decorating their kites before walking up to the park to fly them. They had a blast running around the field trying to make their kite fly on a windless day. Afterwards it was decided that because we were so hot (and it was suppose to rain latter on in the afternoon) that we were going to mix up the day and have Popsicles BEFORE lunch! Its amazing how a 1/4 cup of frozen fruit juice at a different time of the day can bring on such excitement in a group of small children!

Summer: week 1

My favorite day for this first week of summer break has to be our adventure down Huckleberry trail (AKA... trans Canada trail)
We took containers with us to go see our secret huckleberry spot that was absolutely loaded with berries! We sang songs, raced down the hills and then picked and ate tons of berries! We even discovered that Hazel likes them as well! Our plan for the berries is to make huckleberry muffins, scones and pancakes!

Fathers Day 2014

Happy Fathers day you wonderful dads!

Our hats are off to all you wonderful dads out there!
One of my favorite sayings for this special day to celebrate dads is
'Anybody can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad'
Wishing you a wonderful day
Happy Fathers Day!

A taste of the summer to come...

The past few weeks we have had a small taste of the warm months to come!
It has been so wonderful to feel the warm sunshine on our faces and the joy that comes with playing in water without our boots and raincoats!

Bring on the sunshine! I am ready!
