Dresses

It's not really what it looks like.... The last few times I have changed the dress up clothes the boys have sat and watched Rosie as she raced over to try them all on and see which one twirls best. So one day this week I hear Nate say  "do you want to try on the red one and I will try on the purple one?" Mateo reply's "sure... them we can spin and be blayblades"..... so they did! Apparently spinning until one crashes into the other and falls to the floor is what boys DO with dresses!

Happy Birthday Sophie

Happy Birthday my friend Sophie!
One of my favorite parts about working with a small group of young children is watching the excitement they show for their friends on their birthdays. As each child arrived at daycare i would ask them if they remembered what was special about that day and each and every one of them remembered it was Sophie's special day! The part of about their birthdays they makes me shake my head is the fact that i walked up and down the toy isles trying to decide what Sophie would enjoy getting for her birthday, and after MUCH debate i picked out a Polly pocket car toy thing and as an after thought grabbed a bubble wand thing.... the bubble wand thing that I didn't even think about getting her was the favorite part of her gift! She is such a kind and sharing 5 year old that she wanted to go out right away and let everyone have a turn with her new birthday bubbles!

Thanks for sharing your bubbles with everyone Sophie!

Spring??? Really?

This week it was so warm out, that when we went to the beach for a walk, we ended up going in the water.... shoes and all!
It all started with helping rescue a starfish who needed to be put farther out in the water... well that led to checking out crabs... discovering fish... splashing....
and a wonderful day!

Parachute fun

This week we have had incredible sunny weather! So we brought out the parachute that i borrowed from the daycare support group. It was a little big for playing with in the back yard... so we used it to help create shade.... with a twist!

The kids spent at least 20 minutes jumping off the ramp they made and trying to push up on the parachute. By the time they were done everyone had red cheeks and needed a drink break!
I love how a simple piece of circular fabric can be used to do Sooooo many things!

Tires

The old saying "one mans trash is another mans treasure" is so true!
I want to thank Cal from the tire store down the street for donating the tires to add to our backyard playground! The kids love to climb, balance, jump and lay on them.

Happy birthday Wesley

Happy birthday Wesley!

My favorite part about Wesley's birthday was the excitement and enthusiasm he had at the anticipation of getting his special birthday hat.... I love that!

My favorite kinda day!

Today was one of my favorite kinda days... a beach day.
From the moment I walk towards the gate, with my backpack on, saying "who wants to go to the beach", you can see toys being dropped or flung into the air, and a loud chorus of small voices yell "I do" as they run to meet me.
Even though the children and I had a great time today ... I think it was Hazel who had the most fun... That crazy dog swam after that silly Canada goose for forever! Every time Hazel would get close enough to lunge, it would fly farther away in the water. She would chase after it for a LONG ways (i did get worried at one point) before heading back to shore. That was when the goose would turn around and head back towards shore and start the chase all over again!

I wasn't sure if Rosie was more concerned for the goose.. or for Hazel swimming out too far!

Searching for crabs is one of Kais favorite things to do! I think it even beats out going to the sandy side of the beach and running with bare feet!
Our new friend Jasper was content to watch the other children pick up the crabs, but he did try a little one with some help. Finding seashells was more his thing.
Drew and Mateo went off to the side of the beach to brag bigger rocks off the retaining wall and struggle to walk down to the waters edge to throw them in (the tide was out, so this was really a large task!)

I love my Job!
