Five!

He's 5... He's 5... He's really really 5!

Welcome to the '5' club Jasper!
Happy Birthday!

A little bit of luck!

We have got to be the luckiest group of daycare kids around....
We caught a Leprechaun!
The week leading up to St Patrick's Day was spent making rainbows and shamrocks for art as well as working on our leprechaun trap!
It is a group activity where we all work on the same project (not always smoothly i might add). It takes a few days to paint and decorate the perfect trap..... but it worked!
On St Patrick's day we went to the park and collected clover and flowers that we used as bait, and then searched for the perfect 'Y' shaped stick to complete the trap!

Now that the trap was set.... all we had to do was be very quiet and wait....
Sure enough, when nap time was over, Rosie bolted from her bed to check the trap and just as we had hoped... the trap had been sprung!
The only thing left to do was to trade the leprechauns freedom for his treasures!
So we all placed our hands on the trap... closed our eyes.. wished with all of our hearts... and said "I set you free!"

Taaadaaaah!
Just like magic!

Happy Leprechaun Day everyone!

Feel the love...

Happy Valentines Day everyone!
This year i have tried to put a strong focus on Valentines 'month'....
A time to show your friends how much you care and are glad to have them as a friend.
How to make friends as well as how to be a good friend.
We have talked a lot about ways that we can show our friends we care.... sharing, helping, listening and showing kindness to one another.... lessons to last a life time!

January birthdays

 Time really does fly by!
This January we saw our little friend Ben turn two already! Even though we talked about it being his birthday, and having cupcakes, getting a present and making him his official birthday hat... well, getting him to wear the hat long enough to get a photo was a little tricky... bribery.... yes, i had to resort  to bribing him with a cupcake to wear his hat! It also took a few tries to get his cupcakes to the table and sing the song.... as soon as we started singing and put the plate near the table he would jump up off of his chair and stretch across the table blowing madly! it was sooo funny to watch!

This year was a little sad to sing happy birthday to Nickolas without his birthday buddy Evelyn of the past 4 years . Instead we celebrated with his long time buddy Clayton whose birthday was 9 days before...
Happy 21st birthday Boys!

Now my little friend Lila who turned 3 was more than ready to let the celebration begin! She was ready for those cupcakes at morning snack!
I let Chloe talk me out of getting her more 'my little pony' stuff , so i wasn't sure how her
unicorn-stuffie-flashlight would go over.... apparently i didn't have to worry!

A foggy adventure

Barnet Beach in the winter has got to be one of the stillest and quietest places in the lower mainland (that is until we arrive!) and when you add the fog..... it really is quite beautiful!
Today we ventured out into the cold fog to throw rocks, climb over logs, (swim in Hazels case), run and squeal with delight as we make our way along the misty pathway.
Thanks for joining us today Sheri!

Christmas 2014

Time sure has a way of slipping away! it feels like yesterday that fall had just arrived, and now i finally sit at the computer and am in disbelief that its really 2015!!! I am glad that everyone had a great Christmas... other than those of you who got sick over the break. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the parents for the wonderful food that you contributed, and of course for all the help in making the daycare party a fun time for everyone. I always feel that i never get a chance to really chat with anyone,  i hope that everyone took the opportunity to get to know each other better. I would also like to say thank you for all the wonderful gifts that you gave me. You are all so very thoughtful, thanks! Most importantly is  a big thank you for choosing me to help in guiding and caring for your little people, i feel so lucky to be able to influence so many things in their lives that could one day make a difference in molding them into awesome grown up's.... just like their parents!
Thank-you!
