On Friday we decided to take advantage of the wonderful cool, crisp and clear fall day and go on an adventure! The hardest part is getting everyone buckled into the car!!!!
We took a vote and went to the beach/ park/ hike...... that way everyone was happy.
In order to fill every ones requests we ventured to Belcara Park, where first we went for a hike in the serene forest. This was my favorite part of the day.... the sunshine filtering through the trees made the frosted areas of the forest seem magical.
Our hike brought us to Admirals rock where we took a break and climbed on the rocks and explored the trees around us.Its a fair hike for their little legs so after we finished exploring we decided to head back and walk down to the pier to see if the people on the dock had caught any crabs.
This was the educational part of our adventure.... only i didn't get any photos (didn't want to let go of Rosie's hand for more than 3 seconds). While on the dock we watched a huge jelly fish swim to the surface before the water was rippled by a seal who had poked his head out of the water not more than 4 feet way from us! When the seal had returned under the water a man who was watching us asked if we wanted to check his traps for crabs. We stood and watched while he pulled up several big crabs from his traps and then he showed the kids how to tell the difference between girl and boy crabs, what a keeper is and which should be put back to grow more. He even let those that wanted too touch the shell of the largest crab before he put it back.
The last part of our adventure was checking out the playground, where we discovered that a disk swing can accommodate 6 kids!!!! Who knew!?!
A big thanks to Nickolas who had lunch almost ready for us by the time we got home (really late)!
Thanks for being such an awesome group of kids you guys.... you ROCK!
